Abjad - Abugida - Alphabet - Alphasyllabary/Abugida - Ideography - Logography - Other - Syllabary

Abjad	Arenian - Arenian is an abjad, created from the Latin alphabet, by reverting to the Latin script's Semitic roots, but keeping the modern shapes (some extra letters have also been added, to cater to Semitic and Indic sounds). Balatran Corrie - A script for a new language I'm working on. Felindan Latheb - The upper left-hand group of symbols are stops (the rows are, from top to bottom: velar (k sounds), palatal (ch sounds), retroflex (t sounds, put the tip of the tongue against the roof in the mouth, quite far back, the resulting sound should be similar to Englist t in 'true'), dental (t sounds, but for these sounds, the tip of the tongue should be put at the upper teeth (as with English th)), bilabial (p sounds). Natikpu - The Natikpu of Transvekhlia (a fictional planet) have a writing system with 11 letters. Remeba - Left-to-right horizontal (on a line), top-to-bottom (of a page) back-to-front (in a book… and yes, that's backwards for us…) "b" includes b, p, v, and f, and anything in between "?" includes ? and ? "z" includes z and s "?" includes ? and ? "d" includes d and t "ð" includes ð and þ "g" includes g, k, q, and anything in between "(silent)" includes silent, w, h, and anything in between. Ubyx - This is an Arabic-type script for an extinct Caucasian language.
Abugida	Awashi Awota - Awota Kørøk (Kørøk means writing) is a 'reverse' abugida, that is, the vowel is the most important part of the symbol, and the consonant is added (in the case of Awota, on the top) as a kind of 'diacritic'. Bantian Bathanian Alphasyllabary Breloom - An abugida with quadrant-based symbols for CVC syllables. Complanian CyrDaiLue - This script is derived from Cyrillic (Russian), but it uses the Thai Lue vowel system (which ultimately is of Indic origin). Dalkuvian Embelyon Emmetian - This is an abugida with CVC characters. Gaciça - Ted Kloba writes, "Here is Gaciça's new alphasyllabary script, which is based on the old alphabet (in the [Conlang Orthography] Museum)…" Glingwin - A writing system created at the request of Jonathan Avidan; derived from a previous alphabetic script. Jishang - This is an abugida that is actually derived from the Latin alphabet, where the tops of the consonants are modified to show a variety of vowels. Kuraw - Kuraw is a script invented for the Saalangal language. Leaf - Barry wrote, "Anyone who has no idea what it is would never think it was a writing system…" Mathasian Gë'ëz MatheNhla Mattai Le - This is a large extension of the Tai Le/Dehong Dai script used in south-western China. N!à Script - The text is generally written as branches rather than lines. Nanukhi - Nanukhi is an Indic-style script, with a hanging orientation. Pokhi - This is an abugida with complex glyphs, which are "scientifically" built: there is a base glyph for each articulation place to which the various manners are added as extra lines or hooks, then to the completed consonant the intended vowel is superimposed. Shan-Thai - This is an Indic-style script, and as such, it is related to Devanagari, Punjabi, Burmese and so on. Tahano Nuhicamu - Another script for my constructed langauge Ayeri and related languages. Torrin - This is a dual level script designed for my constructed languages. Watterian - This is an abugida with a lot of characters, which have three parts each: the top-most part gives the articulation place of the initial consonant, the middle part gives the manner of articulation of the initial consonant, and the bottom part is the vowel. Alphabet	Aevahroth Ahlimite Aiur - I invented a rough form of this language in 4th grade for passing notes to my friends during class. Albireo-Thai Almeryan - An Elven script from East Almery. Alomian - "The Alomian script is the creation of Dan Baisden……" Alphabet 26 - Alphabet 26 is Bradbury Thompson's radical proposal for the redesign of the alphabet… The plan for simplifying and improving our alphabet, entitled 'Alphabet 26,' was first presented in Westvaco Inspirations 180 in 1950. Alphadozen - Alternative English alphabet made to harmonize with duodecimal numbers. Alphanian Aluiul - This is a 'simple' alphabet for a rather unusual hypothetical language. Aluwxn - Aluwxn is basically 6 symbols which can be rotated to generate 22 letters. Anterian Anthroposian - Anthroposian or NeoHebrew is written right to left, like Earth Hebrew. Arborian Fairy Script - Of the words in the samples, Altaria is a kind of dragon bird (another connection! it is a Pokémon from Nintendo's game, and it is indeed a dragon bird, even in the game). Arborian Script Arial.Thai - Arial-Thai is a linearized version of Thai. Ascenderati Ascolanian - The writing system from Ascolais. Atemayar Qelisayér - "The Atemayar alphabet was created by Simon Halfdan Hvilshøj Andersen-Garnéro during a boring Latin classes at school…" Atlantean - Atlantean was created for the film Atlantis - the Lost Empire. Attrendian - I developed the Attrendian alphabet initially as a "code" based upon the English alphabet. Avallaen - "The Avallaen alphabet is the creation of Thomas Maska…and is modelled, to some extent, on the the script of the Voynich Manuscript…" Ayeri - This is a script for my constructed language Ayeri which I came up with in spring 2004. Azalonian - The writing system from Azalone (Eta Bootis IV). Bacthasian Colour Script - Vowels are written in either black or white, depending on the background colour. Bakerite - Bakerite fuses four purposes:To create a writing system that yields a more accurate phonetic representation of American English; To create a system that follows phonemic intuitions common amongst poor spellers;To aim for a minimal use of letters and to compensate for this through the use of diacritics; andTo create a systemn that demonstrates the relationships between phones. Benjamin Franklin's Phonetic Alphabet - Benjamin Franklin created a new alphabet to better write the English language. Berezian - Berezian is a linear alphabet. Biernikow Jazyk Blokrite - I wanted to create the first three-dimensional "writing" system. Box Writing System - This is the monumental writing system used by the dwarves in Mathasia. Braille International Phonetic Alphabet - Braille version of the International Phonetic Alphabet. Bramandinian Bukhstav - This is a runic alphabet used by the wizards of Huna to write Khangaþyagon. Camion Code - A "universal code for the common language". Cerulean Choton Handwriting - A handwriting script for quickly and efficiently writing Choton (and other languages). Cthulhu - Cthulhu is an alphabet inspired by the transdimensional monsters of the American science-fiction writer H. Daisla - Ensle writes, "The Daisla was designed to be a written script by pen…" Daléian - The Daléian alphabet was designed for Daléian , one of my constructed languages. Denian D'ni - D'ni is a cursive script used by the society of the same name from the Myst franchise. D'ni Choylahnayahl - D'ni Cholahnayahl, which means "complete D'ni" (a bit presumptuous, but best I could do with a limited vocabulary) adds 5 new letters to as well as a new punctuation mark. Drow Alphabet Elatoi Eldanar Elkarîl - Mark Rosenfelder writes, "Elkarîl writing-- consisting of columns of grimacing faces-- may look at first like it is logographic; but in fact it is an alphabet, and indeed mostly featural… Each CVC syllable in Elkarîl is drawn in the form of a face-- taking advantage of the hominid brain's ability to perceive faces quickly and easily as a gestalt…" Eloram Glyphs - A phonetic alphabet for a family of fantasy languages. Eloranta - Eloranta is the usual writing system used by the elves in Mathasia. Em-Tha-Lei - The Mathasian Dwarven Epigraphic-Magic Writing System. English Shorthand - Massive revision: d10. European Alphabet - I am looking for help for a "European alphabet" project. Ewellic - Ewellic is a phonemic alphabet invented in 1980 to write English (and potentially other languages). Freedonian - This is the writing system used in the cloud 'kingdom' of Freedonia, that floats above the Mathasian mainland, drifting with the winds. Fukhian - Fukhian is a script inspired by Arabic and Devanagari that is used primarily for the Fukhian language, but in recent times also for yet unfinished and unpublished conlangs. Futurama - From the "Futurama" TV show. Giantish - This linear writing system is used by Mathasian giants. Glaitha-A - Glaitha-A was an alphabet used many years ago to write Mikiana. Gorwinion's Alphabet Graeco-Roman - By augmenting the Latin alphabet with the Greek alphabet, one can assign a single letter to each American English phoneme. Graffiti - This alphabet was designed for maximizing the accuracy of handwriting recognition, by simplying the individual characters or modifying them to make them more distinct from one another. Grid Script - Writing Orientation Right-to-left, then top-to-bottom Syllabic Blocks Each bulky block represents a syllable. Hanglish - A syllable-grouped alphabet. High Gaelish Ilaini - The script used in the kingdom of Valdyas. Ilaxošaþ - This is the alphabet used to write the Epiq language. Insulikarim Jacobi Lyppai Kardii - The alphabet used to write Kardii, the language of the Shela people. Kayalian Kidarna - Kidarna is intended to appear Sinitic, but is actually an alphabet. Klingon Print Alphabet - A noncanonical Klingon script for printing, inspired by the official Klingon script (also shown). Kpuloyi - The writing system of the Mathasian Nidoran Masters. Ku - Ku is an alphabet for Arkian language. Lakurian Lanrohidh'il Legendian Lemurian cursives - The Lemurian cursives are the writing systems used by the speakers of Lemurian (or trailún lemuriarè), the ceremonial language of the micronation of Lemuria. Link - The author writes, "The link alphabet consists of four vowel sounds, an aspirant/shwa, and twelve consonants, for a total of 17 letters…" Lipnorian - The character style on the picture comes from a typeface/font style called Frankfurter. Lûá - Lûá script is designed so that the consonant, being pictographic in nature, provides a visual cue for the meaning of the word. Maa'lua - A vertical script, where each syllable is written with three characters (plus one or two dots for tone). Mailani Maltovian Mang!ap Mannaci - This script could be called a linear Abugida, but it is classified as an Alphabet, despite that the vowel @ (schwa) is inherent in each consonant symbol, unless a vowel symbol follows it. Marttamil - Here is a new script called Marttamil, which is a simple alphabet, but phonetically, it is similar to the Tamil script: it is phonetically underdetermined. Math IPA Braille - A phonetic script based on a "scientific" version of the normal Braille dot script used by the blind. Mathasian Fraser Mathasian Redjang MathPhon Matilano Matsaurashtra - Unlike the Saurashtra script (which is an Abugida) Matsaurashtra is a true Alphabet. Megdevi Script - I originally created this script for my very first language, Megdevi. Mhigiwipian Glyphs - An alphabet for the artlang Mhigiwipian. Minhyan Myathwei - This is the normal writing system, that Mathasian dwarves use in everyday life (for more formal use, BoxWriting is used). Nakhri - This is the alphabet for the Nakhri constructed language. New Adelic - An extension of Scott MacLagan's Adelic script. New Chechen - A new script invented for the Chechen language. Northern Griffin Script Ominar - Based on Futhark runes, the Ominar alphabet consists of 14 consonants and 6 vowels, for a total of 20 symbols. Ooqatao Keygao Pagmitlang - Pagmitlang is taken from the Hiligaynon language and means "Pronunciation", which I found fitting as Pagmitlang reflects my pronunciation of English. Patoukii - Patoukii is a true alphabet with a rather unusual distribution of its sounds - 12 consonants and 33 vowels (because of tones). Pékrif - Pékrif - literally "collection of marks" - is the official alphabet of the Republic of Ånhrush and is used chiefly to write its official language, Gomain (elsewhere on this site). Petersonian English Alphabet - I, like nearly everyone else, have my own ideas for how English should reform its spelling system. PMF - The PMF script for English is designed for speed writing and easy recall. Portmurian Proto-Loudanian - The Mathasian country Loudan originated as a mis-hearing of the name of the old Chinese country Loulan, which was located near the wandering lake, Lopnor. Proto-Minhyan - Designed for inscribing in stone. Qhalite Quadra - Quadra is a set of characters based on the borders of a square and its diagonals. Queshite Quikscript - Quikscript is a phonetic alternate English alphabet, designed by Ronald Kingsley Read and debuted in 1966. Rebbuqqan - Rebbuqqan was a divinatory script read by priestesses of the Toad-Goddess Rebbuqqa from the flight of flies. Rhynar Rotor - Rotor is an experimental script created using animated gifs, to realize the concept of letters that literally move on the "page". Sarati - The predecessor to the Tengwar of Feanor in Middle-earth; alphabet invented by Elvish linguist Rumil of Valinor. Serq Sohlob - The alphabet used to write my conlang Sohlob. Shafurow-9 - Shafurow-9 is a distillation of the 26 Roman majuscules and 10 Arabic numerals into a 36-character alphabet based on nine symbols each shown in four rotations. Shannetarian - Shannetarian is a simple, underdetermined cased alphabet. Shavian - A neography funded by George Bernard Shaw's estate and thereby named after him. Shukaraz - Shukaraz is a true alphabet -- one glyph for each consonant and vowel. Solresol - A musical alphabet for the musical language Solresol. South Ariwentan Sultet - This was created by some random scribbling I did on my hand, and I may or may not apply this to a conlang. Tankhota Tadavar Suntaþir - This is the alphabet I use to write the Sathir language. Tarikh-e-3arabiyya - This script is actually a blend of Arabic and Latin. T'ékánta en Mazú - T'ekanta en Mazú, which means "Flower's Writing", was named after the woman who created the writing system (named Mazú). Tengwar - The unique flowing writing style used for Quenya and Sindarin. Tsavashi Twonwalsakom Üqoi - A more streamlined version of my original MS Paint-created alphabet. Utopian - This script was created by Thomas More for his novel Utopia, published 1516. Varniin Verdurian - Note that there's a one-to-one correspondence between the Verdurian alphabet and the standard English representation. Verentian Phonetic Alphabet - "The work of the scholars of Tirreter was to produce what today we call a phonetic alphabet…" Vlika - Herman Miller writes, "Tirelat is written in the Vlika script, one of the more widespread scripts of Sangari origin…" Vosh - A script for a fantasy language. Yeishen Phonetic Alphabet Zan Zdekkite - Used by the Zdekkites. Zenit's Script Zhüþey Veskay - Though the language's phonology doesn't actually match up perfectly with the orthography, the orthography was designed to have eight vowels, and then four sets of consonants, based on the following places of articulation: Labial, Dental/Alveolar, Postalveolar/Palatal, and Velar.
Alphasyllabary/Abugida	rMjun-bsPa - This is a linearized Tibetan-style script.
Ideography	Blissymbolics - Basic Blissymbolic pictographs ("Bliss-words") can be combined to express complex ideas. Hiberaar Roda - Originally, it was the first script within Hibero-Arkian languages designed for Hiberian, a literary language in the region of Ark. Narayani - Narayani is the language of the age of Narayan in the Myst franchise. Shi - A writing system for fairy creatures from medieval folklore. Yeishen Pictograms Yingzi - A sketch of a writing system "if English was written like Chinese".
Logography	Newahon Rikchik - Seven lines per word: four specify the morpheme, with one each for aspect of meaning, relation to other words in the sentence, and for how many previous words the word relates to.
Other	12480 - "12480 is not based upon phonemes, but rather upon binary…" Içtaîl - Içtaîl (the Ithkuil word for 'hypothetical writing system') is a "morpho-phonemic" script whose characters convey both phonetic and morphological (i. Banks, the science fiction author well-known for his 'Culture' novels. Syllabary	Adanian Syllabary Anemonian - Anemonian is the printed form of Anemonian Longhand, thus the latter is more syllabary-like. Anemonian Longhand - Anemonia is a stormy island off the north-eastern coast of Mathasia; the name means the "windy" country. Corbacian - This is a complex syllabary, whose characters are built from three sets of parts. Glaitha-B - Glaitha-B is used by fairies to write Mikiana. Hylian - The primary (maybe only) language of the fictional land of Hyrule found in the Legend of Zelda video games (dating back to 1986). Jindai Moji - Several scripts called Jindai Moji have popped up throughout Japan's history. Klazurigana - Klazurigana is a rather complex script, which is derived from Japanese Katakana. Loudanian Majjapi - Majjapi is an extension of the Japanese Katakana syllabary, in order to make possible the use of more consonant sounds, than is catered for with the standard Katakana. Malk'urian - It is a syllabary, with some special features. Négwínry Ästrälä - The Gweydr Stone Script is a syllabary etched into rock walls. Ngolopalnec Oronian - This script uses a dual-part system, to give a lot of syllable characters. Rowenian Shaquean Horizontal Syllabary - This is an almost phonetic syllabary with also stand-alone vowels and consonant diacritic marks. Sindinian Toisla - Toisla is an older syllabary. Vihal Wandotrigana - Wandotrigana is a syllabary that is derived from Japanese katakana (like Klazurigana).
