Site LanguageEnglish
Language TypeNA
UniquenessAll consonants should be pronounced as in English with the following exceptions C (k) is always pronounced hard as in cat; Q (kw) should be pronounced as the sound beginning the word queen; J should be pronounced as English consonant y at the start of words like yellow; H (hj) should be pronounced as the sound at the start of the word human; Th should be pronounced as the sound beginning thin; Dh should be pronounced as the sound beginning this; Zh should be pronounced as the s in measure; R should be trilled slightly. Vowels should be pronounced as follows: A as the a in cat; E as the ay in way; I as the ee in see; O as the o in go; U as the oo in pool; Á as the i in bite. This is about my fifth attempt at constructed language creation, but all my constructed languages have had a long way to go before being right. None of them attempt naturalism yet, and I am struggling with issues of word order sand how to translate many of the small words of English's isolating morphology into forms that work as part of my language's grammar. I believe I have a long way to go, but as far as Heanasjacáel exists so far this Babel text is accurate to the best of my belief.
