Interlinear Translation 1Language one world all have+past tense(had)
Translation 2While men go+past tense (went/moved) east plain in Shinar find+past tense. plain in be+ nounal verb modifier+ make+ past tense(make a settlement)
Translation 3Man to man said Bricks we |let us make|. bricks in sun, with heat let us make. Stone’s name brick unmade. Mortar’s name tar unmade.
Translation 4They next “City with tower for us let us make. Tower |(up) to| Heaven/God let us make. Then recognition/fame will have. So then separation |will not have|.”
Translation 5But earth to, The God |here went| (came), city and tower purposed to see.
Translation 6Then “One group(of people) be they, all can do.
Translation 7Now, their words God will make chaotic” God said “Then, their personal words will not know.” God said.
Translation 8So separation in(amongst) them The God made. The city stop-built (ceased construction)
Translation 9So name Babel has/having. There in The God words chaotic made. There from The God separation made.
English Paraphrase 1The world had one language.
Paraphrase 2While men moved east, they found a plain in Shinar. In the plain they settled.
Paraphrase 3They said to one another "Let us bake bricks in the sun." Brick replaced stone. Tar took the place of mortar.
Paraphrase 4Then they said "let us build a city for us with a tower. Let the tower reach to heaven. Then we will become famous and not be destroyed.
Paraphrase 5But then God came to Earth to see the city and tower.
Paraphrase 6He then said "As one people they can do anything.
Paraphrase 7I must confuse their language [to cause separation]. Then they will not understand each other."
Paraphrase 8So God made separation amongst them and they stopped building the city.
Paraphrase 9Therefore, it is called Babel. In Babel God confused language. In Babel, God caused separation [amongst people].
Notes 1Notice how, like french, the adjective follows the object. Same rule for adverbs.
Notes 2Pretty self explanatory.
Notes 3note how 'va' added to end of verbs implies a 'let us' kind of attitude. This I borrowed from Japanese (which I am studying).
Notes 4Same as above
Notes 5Pretty simple.
Notes 6Simple
Notes 7I am thinking of making the 'i must' a form of conjugation.
Notes 8Pretty simple.
Notes 9I like the ease of which Rassih Khang (kh sounds like a more quiet version of the northern german ch (like baCH)) molds itself into a storytelling manner.
