IntroductionClassic Īz-Drotoros (meaning "The Doing of a Speaker", or simplified: "The Speech") is the language of the peninsula of Menur (or Menor) Qa. It is mostly used in juridical texts and older literature. A close relative is the Modern Īz-Drötār ("The Speech"), with a simplified grammar and vocabulary, used in the everyday life of the Menur Qastrians.
Verse 1Īz-Bötsālat bözam-bez bosvo erw rū sosolost-bez.
Verse 2Īz-Wröwāman īz-dönāfūn sorso erw lögāt-bez Sanuroās lorsqo erw lewl dosqonost.
Verse 3Boso rot: "Bröla djevenifan!". Soso qrömātaf djevenifan erw djilqalbaf zölān.
Verse 4Boso: "Röqi röwuoq-bez erj bönouf-bez zörātāt. Īz-bosaröböbl oāmuq māna, erw bosarö iuzām wa-sala īz-Bötsālatön."
Verse 5Īz-Tölāq a'aq sārso īz-bötsālāt ba'et īz-bönouf erw īz-röwuoq qāvzi.
Verse 6Īz-Tölāq bāso: "Fölāq-bez sola erw bözam-bez bosvo. Īz-rā'an īz-qā'ölāt sāla. Sözvāt oawur sola, soja bölān brola.
Verse 7Rö döda söra īz-bötsālāt erw jödāqan bröla, erw rā jodoqost erw wa-zroqa.
Verse 8Awq īz-Tölāq ro fāso Sanurtar īz-bötsālatāt, awr lewl wa-roqopost.
Verse 9Babul rāta qusm, ba'et īz-Tölāq īz-Bötsālön wa-zroka lewl brālso, erw īz-Tölāq fāso īz-wröwāman īz-Bötsālatāt lewl.
Interlinear Translation 1The-whole-earth speech-one they-spoke and all they-*doing-of-a-speaker*-one.
Translation 2The-Humans the-east they-went and valley-one in-Shinar they-found och there they-"doing-of-a-settler".
Translation 3They-said them-to "We-make bricks!" They-use as-building-material bricks and as-mortar tar.
Translation 4They-said: "We-shall-build one-city with one-tower to-heaven. *They-say-us*'s-name famous it-becomes, and *they-say-us* not-be on-the-whole-world."
Translation 5The-Lord to-see he-went to-the-world because the-tower and the-city he-shall-see.
Translation 6The-Lord he-said: "One-people they-are and speech-one they-speak. The-(plural)-this the-beginning it-is. Nothing impossible they-is, they-can everything they-make.
Translation 7We we-let we-go to-the-world and confusions we-make, and they they-*doing-of-an-confused* and not-they-understand.
Translation 8And the-Lord they it-scattered from-Shinar to-the-whole-world, and there not-*doing-of-a-builder*.
Translation 9Babel it-is-called therefore, because the-Lord to-the-world not-they-understand there it-made, and the-Lord it-scattered the-humans to-the-whole-world there.
English Paraphrase 1All on Earth spoke the same speech and spoke the same way.
Paraphrase 2Men went eastwards and in Shinar they found a valley and there they settled.
Paraphrase 3They said to themselves: "We shall make bricks!" They use bricks as building stones and as mortar they used tar.
Paraphrase 4They said: "We shall build a city with a tower to heaven. Our name will become famous, and we will not be spread on whole Earth.
Paraphrase 5The Lord went to the world to se the tower and the city.
Paraphrase 6The Lord said: "They are one people and they speak one speech. This is the beginning. Nothing is impossible to them, they can make whatever they want.
Paraphrase 7Let us go to the world and create confusion, and men will be confused and will not understand eatchother.
Paraphrase 8And the Lord scattered them away from Shinar to the whole world and they did not build there anymore.
