EditorialDesigned by others as a continuation of Loglan, Lojban (its name is a contraction for "Logical Language" in Lojban) is the most professional and thought-provoking of the modern logical languages, with a fascinating methodology for deriving its root words from Arabic, Chinese, English, Hindi, Russian and Spanish. Extensive information is available on-line. For the sheer joy of it, you should check out how Tolkien's Tengwar alphabet can provide "a romantic orthography for Lojban".
UniquenessClaudio Gnoli writes, "A revised version of Loglan, with mainly lexical changes, began by a group of loglanists disagreeing with Cooke Brown's way of managing it. A fixed grammar, written by John Cowan, has been published in 1997. LLG has several active members, who are in contact via a mailing list, some of which, like Jorge Llambias and Nick Nicholas, are able to speak current Lojban. All this makes Lojban to be the main reference language for today's loglangers."

"Lojban has a whole array of emotional indicators, with optional intensity indicators as well, expressing about 80 significant emotions. These can also be subdivided as physical, social, emotional, intellectual, sexual, or spiritual varieties. AFAIK, Lojban has the richest facility for emotional expression of any known conlang, which is rather ironic for a 'logical language' (but moving the emotional expressiveness out of thelogic-based core makes sense in its own way)." - John Cowan
Language SourcesRoot words based on the six most widely spoken languages; grammar based on first-order predicate logic. It has 1350 root words, hundreds of particles and thousands of compound words.
Design PrinciplesPredicate Logic, consistency. The original idea was to create an artificial language with which to test the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis.
