KOD - Conlang Profile   Advanced
Language NameKOD
Language AuthorJohann Vielberth
Year Began2000
SiteKOD
Broken LinkNo
Site LanguageGerman, English, Spanish, French
Language Typeinternational auxiliary language
UniquenessAssuming that grammar is the most difficult part of language learning, KOD restricts itself to thorough relexicalization of natural languages, including all elements of morphosyntax (case markers etc); syntax and phrase structure are presumed to be negligible. Users are to apply the grammar of their native languages to these substitute lexemes - the basic principle appears to amount to a spoken form for interlinear translations.
Design PrinciplesRenouncement of grammar (see above); principles of economy and maximum accessibility for native speakers of any natural language are claimed, but (IMHO) appear to be little understood in their impact on language characteristics.
Interest Of OthersA team of linguists is employed to work on the project (according to Deutsche Welle Radio, "one of the largest linguistic projects currently underway in Germany"); a number of others, like me, have left (or have been made to leave) the project over disagreements about linguistic design principles.
