Language Typefictional diachronic language
EditorialKebreni is the language of Kebri, which is near Verduria on the planet of Almea. Its grammar is designed to differ from that of English in nearly every way possible: for instance, the verbal system depends on categories like aspect, politeness, desire, and volitional impact, and not at all on person, number, or tense, and conjugation depends on metathesis and vowel change rather than inflection. Kebreni's ancestor language Methaiun is worked out as well, and Kebreni derives from it in a historically plausible way. The site lists a 1400-word dictionary with etymologies, a grammar and sample texts.
UniquenessKebreni is the language of Kebri, which is near Verduria on the planet of Almea. Its grammar is designed to differ from that of English in nearly every way possible. I particularly like the verbal system, which depends on categories like aspect, politeness, desire, and volitional impact, and not at all on person, number, or tense; and which for its conjugation depends on metathesis and vowel change rather than inflection. Its subordinating particle is also rather interesting, as is the way it uses verbs in place of prepositions. Its ancestor language Methaiun is worked out as well, and Kebreni derives from it in a historically plausible way.
Language SourcesFor the grammar, just about any language I know that isn't English. :) Lexically, I borrowed a few words from Japanese, but mostly it's lexicon is invented.
Interest Of OthersPresumably, for its non-English grammar, or for its role in fleshing out the texture of Almea.
