UniquenessItlani is an alien language of a people with possible Terran connections. It has a rich vocabulary of 11,000 words [not online yet], its own script [not online yet], and an internal history of over 30,000 years. It is vaguely Indo-Uralic in structure.
Language SourcesPrimary inspirations in phonology and syntax were Russian, Latin, Italian, Finnish, Turkish and Esperanto.
Design PrinciplesThe formation (discovery) of the language was primarily intuitive, allowing it to take form on its own terms. What "felt" Itlani was designed in and what did not "feel" Itlani was designed out.
Interest Of OthersA good friend of the author, Anthony Harris (the originator of the Aluric language) has learned a reasonable amount of Itlani. This is probably due to his love of conlanging and of languages in general.
