Language Typepersonal language
UniquenessThis language combines a stock of roots drawing heavily on the postulated Proto-Germanic language and on the existing Germanic languages of today (English, German, Dutch, and to a lesser extent the Scandinavian languages) with a partially invented grammar/syntax/morphology and a powerful word-building capacity from the available roots. The name can be analyzed as "folkish" or "of the people."
Language SourcesAs far as direct inspiration goes, I can say that a present I got for Christmas 2004, Kluge's Etymologisches Wörterbuch der Deutschen Sprache, was it. It is a very exhaustive dictionary of German etymology, with English cognates and proto-Germanic antecedents. It is so cool that I had to make a language out of it.
