According to this view, the language of Doriath should now be imagined merely as a particularly archaic variant of the Sindarin we know from LotR, and the Doriathrin of the Etymologies must largely be dismissed as an obsolete notion - except for some names that Tolkien evidently transferred to Sindarin as he scrapped Doriathrin as a separate language.
