Language Typefictional language
UniquenessThe language is supposedly the root of all human tongues. It's spoken by Leeloo in the movie The Fifth Element, and only bits and pieces of it are available. It's an interesting language to say the least. The URL listed appears to be the only place where the language is even considered. Every other page is just a fan-boy of the movie itself.
Language SourcesNone. Apparently in its fictional role it inspired every other human language. Could infact be a mix of Milla Jovovich's own languages. It was written that she speaks Russian, French, Serbian, & English fluently. Her mother is Russian and her father is Serbian. So the dictionary could actually be only a list of American or French words. Milla probably mixed the languages she speaks into this Divine Language. I also read, each actor/actress was only allowed to read only thier lines in the film. Milla refined hers. Plus, the Diva, "Plava Laguna" was said to be Serbian for Blue Lagoon, because of Milla's Jovovich's first movie.
Design PrinciplesIt seems to be a mixture of everything from French to Japanese to Aramaic and maybe even a hint of English. From the looks, it's really just a complex cipher of French.
Interest Of OthersI'm unsure. I know that Luc Besson, the French writer/director, is responsible for the movie, but I don't know if he's responsible for the language itself, or if he had someone else design it. Update from IMDB: The language spoken by Leeloo was invented by director Luc Besson and further refined by Milla Jovovich. By the end of filming they were able to have full conversations in this language.
ExplanationMaybe when the dictionary is found, someone should put it on the net and it's meanings for the rest of the fans.
