Language Typefictional language
UniquenessArêndron is one of the most important languages in the conworld of Atragam. It became the language of a large empire and was for centuries the language of all major literature and philosophy. Its grammar is meant to be realistic, with many interesting quirks and irregularities; however, it should also be fun and fairly easy to learn.

The most recent addition to Arêndron is a series of lessons including sound files of the language as it is spoken. Arêndron now also has its own descendant language, Modern Ændron, following the language through four centuries of sound and grammar changes.
Design PrinciplesMy only guiding principle was my own sense of linguistic aesthetics. I wanted Arêndron to be as beautiful as possible, both in sound and in the logic of its structure.
Interest Of OthersArêndron has received some nice compliments from the people at the ZBB, a few of whom have tried to learn the language. I've also given a successful reading of Arêndron poetry at Balliol College, Oxford, and spent an enjoyable evening discussing the grammar of the language afterwards. Arêndron received several votes at the 2004 ZBB Awards, and won two categories (Most Improved Language and Best Syntax). Interest has recently increased with the addition of a primer with sound files.
