IntroductionMorisyen is the language of Mauritius. It is the mother tongue of one million people, and the common language of all the Mauritians, although it has no legal status in Mauritius. Morisyen is a French Creole, with many Indian, African and English loan-words.

Verse 8Ek Bondye finn disperse zot lwin lor sirfas later, ek zot aret batir lavil.
Verse 9Sepusa dimunn apel li Babel, ek sela ki Bondye melanz langaz tu later, ek sela ki Bondye dispers zot lor sirfas later.
