Language SubtitleA Constructed Lanauage by Michael Morgan
Year2003
TranslatorMichael Morgan
IntroductionLesnoraíth is my first attempt at a constructed language and has existed in its current form for about 2 months, although I've been playing with the idea for about 4. I hope to develop the language to a point where I can actually use it to journalize and converse with my children. The name, Lesnoraíth, was chosen before I learned much about Tolkien's Sindarin and coincidentally translates to "Noble Tongue." It is currently simply a working name and will probably be changed eventually. Pronunciation notes: the digraph dh represents the /th/ sound of English THese.

English Paraphrase 1...The people of the earth spoke one language and one dialect.
Paraphrase 2They traveled East and while that was happening they found a plain in the region of Shinar and they dwelt there.
Paraphrase 3They spoke with themselves, "Come, we should make bricks, putting them to high heat. They had bricks for stone and pitch for mortar.
Paraphrase 4They spoke with themselves, "Come! We should build a city and a tower with roof that reaches the sky, we should make a name to be ours or scattered we will be on the Earth.
Paraphrase 5Down came the Father of All to see their city and tower.
Paraphrase 6Speak did the Father of All, "Look, now they are folk and they speak one language, and they will start this, and witheld will be nothing that to do they want."
Paraphrase 7Look! Let us descend now and confuse their language so they will not understand themselves.
Paraphrase 8The Father of All scattered them on the Earth and stopped building their city did they.
Paraphrase 9Because of this, the tower was called "Babel" for the reason that there the All Father confused the language of mankind and scattered them He did on the Earth.
