Verse 6 | Sai Imnoje emin, «jel: men ó nó fi, sei imna me alto emo. Me líjo ó ní lá siina. Imno lá siina lijji dérin, ende aran ó loridi. |
Verse 7 | Ennoj né hirdi sei embaboj ematan séirin, tijo enden-diha nesai.» |
Verse 8 | Sei sain se míj nede imna Méma Imnoje legolin, sei siina renin a ferani lasa. |
Verse 9 | Míjri sai ema «Babel» tolin – ti sai míj Imnoje ema e imna Méma babin, sei sain se míj nede imna Méma Imnoje legolin. |
Interlinear Translation 1 | Whole World was one language and same tongue. |
Translation 2 | When went people from East, (they-do) in Shinar valley found and there themselves settled. |
Translation 3 | (They-do) to eachother said, «come, (we-will-make) bricks and (we-will-burn(-them)) well (let-us).» (They-do) for stone bricks and for mortar tar used. |
Translation 4 | Then (they-do) said, «come, (to-us) (we-will-build) (let-us) city with tower that (will-reach) Heaven, (to-get) name. (In that way) (we-will-not-be) into whole World (spread(-wish)). |
Translation 5 | Then came down Lord (to-see) city and tower that do people built. |
Translation 6 | Does Lord said, «behold: (they-are) (predicate-particle) one people, and everyone is same language. Is this (predicate-particle) (the-first) that (they-do). Everything that (they-do) now want, (will-not-be) (for-them) (predicate-particle) impossible |
Translation 7 | (We-will-come) down and (we-will-confuse) (their-language) (let-us), (so-that) (they-will-not-understand) eachother.» |
Translation 8 | And (does-them) from there into whole World Lord spread, and (they-do) stopped (subordinate-clause-particle) (to-build) city. |
Translation 9 | Therefore (it-does) name «Babel» get - because does there Lord language of whole World confused, and does them from there into whole World Lord spread. |
English Paraphrase 1 | The whole World had one language and the same tongue. |
Paraphrase 2 | When people went from the East, they found a valley in Shinar and settled there. |
Paraphrase 3 | They said to each other, «Come, let's make bricks and burn them well.» They used bricks for stone and tar for mortar. |
Paraphrase 4 | Then they said, «Come, let's build ourselves a city with a tower that reaches the Heavens in order to get a name. In that way we won't be spread into the whole World. |
Paraphrase 5 | Then the Lord camedown to see the city and the tower that the people had built. |
Paraphrase 6 | The Lord said, «Behold, they are one pople, and everyone has the same language. This is the first thing they do. Everything they now wish to do, won't be impossible for them. |
Paraphrase 7 | Let's go comedown and confuse their language, so that they won't understand each other. |
Paraphrase 8 | And the Lord spread them from there into the whole World, and they stopped building the city. |
Paraphrase 9 | Therefore it got the name «Babel» - because there the Lord confused the language of the whole World, and from there the Lord spread them into the whole World. |
