Language Typefictional language
Uniqueness
  1. Xap II is part of a series of languages in a science fiction story. Xap I was made for children, Xap II for adults, and Xap III was a modified version of the language that gave birth to them both.
  2. Xap II's grammar (like that of the other Xaps) is based entirely on math.
  3. There is a whole lot of reduplication; in fact the whole language sounds very much like baby talk.
  4. Parts of speech are distinguished by what letters of the alphabet they use rather than by word order, etc.
  5. Xap II grammar assumes the existence of many hidden unspoken words that can rise up and be spoken if they are needed for emphasis.
  6. Xap II personifies everything -- every word in the language can be made into a word describing a person by just changing the first syllable to "hà".
  7. Almost every complete sentence begins with a vowel, because of a sentence-initial particle that is usually "à", occasionally some other vowel, but almost never anything ! starting with a consonant, other than "h", which is considered to be a vowel modifier instead of a consonant.
Language Sources1.) All my other conlangs. 2.) The very complex language Angoram, spoken in the tropics of Southeast Asia; Khmer, Finnish, Italian, and many other languages have had small influences too.
Design PrinciplesXap II should sound deceptively like baby talk, but be extremely complex in grammar and rich in vocabulary. It should be a very "rich" language ... meaning that its words will be full of meaning. The average English speech would take somewhat longer to say in Xap II, but grammar should permit much more detail to be added to the speech without making it any longer or harder to understand.
Interest Of OthersI'm creating these languages for a science fiction story. I've gotten a few suggestions from people who want to improve them, but I haven't implemented any of those suggestions. In the future, I will create a language called Xap III that will incorporate most of the possible improvements, but this language is "just for fun". Sometime this year I will add much more info on grammar, a Babel text, a short story, and a much bigger dictionary. I might put etymologies, but they'll embarrass me.

Description Of UpdateNote: there isn't much info on my website right now, because I'm copying it all into HTML. It'll be there soon, I promise. I also have Xap 3 and Xap 4 online and I'm working on 5.
