Language Typefictional language
EditorialWith no canonical Vulcan to rival Klingon (and with Gene Roddenberry never developing much more than the naming conventions and a few words), Star Trek fans have been creating their own versions of the language: Marketa Zvelebil's Modern Standard Vulcan, Mark Gardner's Golic Vulcan and Joel Anderson's Vulcan.
UniquenessMost people are only aware of the Klingon Language Institute; but the VLI (Vulcan Language Institute) has actually been working on its dictionaries, lessons, and translations for over 20 years and has been online for over 6 years. Many who are interested in the Vulcan culture and language are unaware of the VLI's existence.
Interest Of Others"I am the director of a Vulcan Language and Culture web group associated with the VLI, and have appeared at conventions representing both groups. We are currently working on learning the language and translating culturally significant texts, such as the constitution of the USA and Native American creation myths. (The VLI is currently working on translating the Bible.)" - Aleda Gildeth
