Language Typefictional diachronic language
UniquenessVozgian is my answer to the question: what would a fictional North-Slavonic language family have looked like? The result is a language derived directly from Common Slavic, but deeply influenced by the Uralic languages, notably Finnish and Komi (for example, it has no less than 12 cases). Vozgian is the name-giving language of the (fictional) Vozgian Republic, a constituent of the Russian Federation in Ill Bethisad. It is written in Cyrillic script with a few modifications. Along with two sister languages (Motyak and Slopik), Vozgian was started in 1996. However, the current version of the language has little in common with either of them; in fact, it was redone from scratch in 2003.
Language SourcesCommon Slavic, to a lesser degree modern Slavic languages like Russian and Polish; Finnish and Komi. Long after I started Vozgian I was happy to find out that I was not the only creator of a North-Slavonic language; it still gives me great pleasure to compare my own North-Slavonic languages with Nashica (by Jan Havlis), Sevorian (by James Campbell), Slavëni and Seversk (both by Libor Sztemon), and Skuodian (by Pavel Iosad).
Design PrinciplesSound changes in the form of something that with some goodwill could be called a Grand Master Plan; postpositioning and postfixing of prepositions and articles, giving birth to 12 cases and a definite vs. indefinite declension.
Interest Of OthersYes, the language already has made its appearance in a German scientific journal.
