Language Name Nari Language Author Thomas Slawson Year Began 2003 Site Nari Broken Link No Site Language English Language Type fictional language Uniqueness I am attempting to develop the vocabulary without consciously borrowing from any other languages. I'm a musician, a composer to be exact, and the concept behind the language is to treat each word as sort of a miniature musical "composition," in which I combine sounds to reflect the meaning, at least what I think it should sound like. At the same time, I am developing a very consistent grammar so that the words and sounds will flow together smoothly and, hopefully, beautifully. Language Sources Grammatically I've drawn ideas mainly from English, Hebrew and Russia. I've developed the sounds of the alphabet from those three languages plus some sounds from some African languages and the Yakut language of the Yakut people of Sibera. Design Principles The main principles are to make the language audibly pleasing and interesting to the ear while keeping the grammar simple and consistent. Interest Of Others Right now just some of my friends and my future wife. It is my future hope to develop a storyline of the Nari people. I would like to gear the stories towards children mainly. It may be that the only children who ever read them will be my own.
