Language Typepersonal language
UniquenessIt is fairly Indo-European for the sake of simplicity, but it has some unusual features:
  • There is a threeway contrast between unvoiced, unvoiced aspirated, and voiced stops;
  • Object forms are in most cases marked with prepositions;
  • Adjectives are formed by inflecting nouns for the adjectival case;
  • There is a neutral tense which is used for simple truths, and there are anterior and posterior tenses which translate as "before" and "after";
  • There is a collective number, which translates as "all (of) the...";
  • The system for forming subordinate clauses is very transparent, even a bit unnatural;
  • Two verbs (arda and eda) are used where English uses only 'to be'.
Language SourcesIndo-European languages in general. There was no specific language that was imitated.
Design PrinciplesSimplicity, even though the language is a priori.
Interest Of OthersCitizens of the Empire of Lemuria, for which it serves as ceremonial language. Lessons are being published at the Lemurian University, and a few of the citizens are taking them.
