UniquenessDekavurian is the name of yet another of the languages which is, or rather will be, featured in my book. The variety presented here, properly referred to as Classical Dekavurian or Common Dekavurian, is supposed to have been spoken by colonists who arrived in the south-east of the land in which the early Liotans were then living, and is thus contemporary with Proto-Liotan.
Language SourcesDekavurian is an East Germanic language closely related to Gothic; it is thus a kind of second cousin once removed from English, or a first cousin of Old English and Old Norse.
Interest Of OthersArmed with an online copy of the glossary from Joseph Wright's Gothic Grammar, supplemented by this Proto-Germanic dictionary and a Perl script to perform the transformations, I was able to put together a decent-sized vocabulary. This book, btw, is the same one which turned the young JRR Tolkien on to Gothic; I actually own an old copy (around 1910), which was also very helpful.
