Bahraini Arabic - Babel Text Profile   Advanced
LanguageBahraini Arabic

TranslatorWael Al-Mahdi
IntroductionThis is the colloquial dialect of Arabic spoken in Bahrain, an independent kingdom in the Arabian Gulf. Although there is another main dialect on the island, used by a higher proportion of the population, this dialect is the one almost always spoken in the media. It is very seldom written (only Modern Classical Arabic is written). This Latin orthography is of my devising. It is designed to require no special characters, but it needs streamlining, because the wealth of consonants in Arabic can cause confusion in any orthography or transliteration.
