Now that the index has grown to over a thousand languages, it's become too much for one person to keep up to date. Fortunately, many visitors to the site help out by updating profiles by clicking the "Update This Information..." button.
If you see a language profile that doesn't include much information and has a series of No's next to the site features, please check the appropriate boxes depending on what information the website has to offer.
Please check out each one's site and update the following fields in the profile:
Dictionary: Does the site have a separate dictionary?
Etymologies: Does the dictionary list the etymologies of some or all forms? (Compounds or descent from protolanguages.)
Grammar: Does the site have a grammar reference?
Sample Texts: Does the site have two or more sample texts of some length, excluding the Babel Text itself?
Unique Script: Does the language have a unique alphabet posted to the site?
Primer: Does the site have a primer with more than one lesson?
Babel Text: Does the site have a Babel Text or does Langmaker have one for the language?
Lexicon Size: Count the words. I usually copy them into TextPad and get a line count. You can do the same thing in Word.
If the site is no longer available, do a Google search for it using the language and/or author's name. If no luck, then:
1. If the language has a Babel Text listed on Langmaker, then replace the link with a link to that page and uncheck all the other site-feature checkboxes.
2. Check Archive.org to see if an archive of the site exists; if so, replace the original link with the link to Archive.org.
3. Otherwise click the Broken Link checkbox.
