ReviewGreenberg's somewhat fictionalised account of her early years include her devotion to a world existing in another dimension. She provides some of the words to Yri, the language spoken there. Greenberg also mentions a "Latinated cover-language" which is spoken in non-critical situations as opposed to genuine Yri; to use Yri all the time would be "like powering a firefly with lightning bolts". A recent biography of her psychiatrist reveals some interesting facts; while the psychiatrist was deeply impressed with Greenberg's creativity, another doctor who knew something about linguistics believed Yri to be an amateurish adaptation of Armenian (Greenberg had Armenian friends). We also know from this book that Greenberg changed the name of one of the chief gods of her realm from Antiloba to Anterrabae, so she may have done the same thing with the Yri words in the text. Still, they are fascinating and worth collecting.
