DescriptionThough the language's phonology doesn't actually match up perfectly with the orthography, the orthography was designed to have eight vowels, and then four sets of consonants, based on the following places of articulation: Labial, Dental/Alveolar, Postalveolar/Palatal, and Velar. I started each character with an idea for a character for each of these four categories, and then modified this character depending on whether the consonant was voiced or voiceless, and was a nasal, fricative, stop or approximant. In terms of extra-orthographic features, I took a cue from Spanish and made it so that punctuation begins each sentence. In order to counterbalance, I made it so that the last letter of the sentence (and the last letter of a proper name) is capitalized.
InfluencesIn terms of style, the Roman alphabet, as used for Latin, and the Cyrillic alphabet, as well as an old alphabet of my own, designed for a language called Gwejdr. In terms of structure, I was largely influenced by Hindi's orthography.
Languages Used ForZhyler, and a modified version is used for Kamakawi.
